This strategic partnership integrates the University of Liverpool’s internationally renowned veterinary curriculum with Al Dhaid’s state-of-the-art facilities, including extensive clinical, laboratory, and field-based resources, to deliver a comprehensive Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program. The inaugural cohort is set to commence in September 2025, with the program fully accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This initiative reflects a commitment to academic excellence, innovative pedagogy, and research-driven veterinary practice, equipping graduates with the expertise necessary to address contemporary challenges in animal health and welfare. The College of Veterinary Medicine invites highly motivated Tutor – Clinical / Laboratory to join its dynamic faculty team and contribute to shaping the future of veterinary education and the next generation of veterinary professionals. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Tutor- Clinical/ Lab members will play a central role in the delivery of the practical component of the curriculum and support in assessing students, adapting the curriculum of our partner, the School of Veterinary Science, University of Liverpool, and forging connections across the two universities and ensuring the quality and efficacy of the curriculum of the new DVM program. Beyond tutoring, the appointee is expected to contribute to the administrative functions of the College, supporting its strategic initiatives and academic development.

Key responsibilities and duties:
The new DVM program will be based on the existing five-year BVSc program at the University of Liverpool (UOL), School of Veterinary Science (SVS) with adaptations to address local context.

    Teaching and Practical Education:
  • Assist in delivering hands-on clinical skills, laboratory-based teaching, and clinical rotations.
  • Provide general support of classroom teaching.
  • Conduct practical training sessions and ensure that students receive required instruction and/or supervision.
  • Support organization of field-based education in various veterinary settings.
  • Organize and participate in practical/clinical assessments delivery, marking and moderation.
  • Create learning opportunities and develop approaches that improve students’ practical and clinical skills.
  • Ensure that safety equipment and protective uniforms are being used while carrying out duties as required.
  • Maintain and update laboratory inventory lists, and order laboratory equipment and consumables as per required specifications.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety standards are implemented at all times, and report emergencies or any matters of concern immediately to the related personnel in order to take action.
  • Ensure and reinforce the proper use and care of equipment and materials as per the College and University of Al Daid’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by the line manager within the expected time limit.
  • Research and Scholarly Activities:
  • Support students in their research projects.
  • Institutional and Administrative Duties:
  • Participate in faculty meetings, academic committees, and departmental initiatives.
  • Engage in student recruitment, admissions, and outreach activities.
  • Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes.
  • Foster industry partnerships and community engagement efforts.

Experience:
    Essential:
  • Experience of working in veterinary practice setting.
  • Desirable:
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality practical instruction across diverse class sizes, with a strong record of pedagogical effectiveness, student engagement, and excellent teaching evaluations.
  • Experience of working in a veterinary degree granting higher education institution.
Education, qualifications and training:
    Essential:
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE.
  • 2- 4 years of experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Relevant veterinary field or significant clinical experience.
  • Desirable:
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Professional Certification.
Skills, general and specialist Knowledge:
    Essential:
  • Strong knowledge and experience of veterinary science fundamentals and clinical applications.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment.
  • Strong communication skills essential for effective engagement in academic and professional settings.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage administrative responsibilities, ensuring efficiency in workload management and academic commitments.
  • Desirable:
  • Fully aware of the veterinary practical and clinical requirements, learning objectives, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in modern educational technology and digital learning tools.
  • Ability to use a range of delivery techniques to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn and improve their skills.
