Dean's Message
Dear Students, Colleagues, Partners, and Members of the Community,
On the occasion of World Veterinary Day 2026, the College of Veterinary Medicine proudly joins the
global veterinary community in marking this year's theme: “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and
Health.”
This theme reflects the true breadth of the veterinary profession. Veterinarians are not only
clinicians. They are essential contributors to food safety, food security, public health, animal
welfare, disease prevention, and the wider One Health agenda. From farms and laboratories to
clinics, inspection systems, and community settings, veterinarians help protect both animals and
people.
At a time when food systems face growing pressure from disease threats, antimicrobial resistance,
environmental change, and global uncertainty, the role of veterinary medicine is increasingly
important. Veterinary professionals are trusted experts in prevention, surveillance, early
detection, and response. Their work strengthens resilience across communities and nations.
At our college, we are committed to preparing future veterinarians who are scientifically grounded,
ethically responsible, and ready to contribute to the health and wellbeing of society. We are
equally proud of our faculty, students, and staff, whose work reflects the value and impact of this
profession every day.
As we mark World Veterinary Day 2026, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing veterinary education,
promoting public understanding of the profession, and supporting the role of veterinarians as
guardians of food, health, and sustainable futures.
With appreciation and best wishes,
Dr. Rabiha Seboussi
